Vietnam opens first timber supermarket

Vietnam’s first supermarket for timber opened Wednesday in the southern province of Dong Nai.

The one-hectare supermarket will supply wood to furniture factories in Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and nearby provinces.

 

Businesses at the opening ceremony said the supermarket is the first professional distributor and the largest timber store in Vietnam.

 

Tavico, named after the investor Tan Vinh Cuu Joint Stock Company (Tavico), will supply oak and ash wood from the US and Europe.

 

Vo Quang Ha, general director of the company, said domestic demand for wood has increased beyond the supply from local forests. (Thanhniennews.com)
